Due to its location on the banks of River Yamuna, the region has rich and fertile agricultural land with a high water table. Its nearness to Delhi and its versatile nature have induced its inclusion in the National Capital Region.

The state government of Uttar Pradesh is blending in all vehicles to completely revamp the area. To meet the challenges of the 21st century and to realize the untapped potential of the area. The state government is strengthening its infrastructure and preserving historical sites to promote heritage tourism. Impetus is being given to the development of infrastructure components like road and rail network, electric and water supply, sewer and drainage. For this reason, the Baghpat Baraut Khekra Development Authority has also been formed.

    Enhanced Connectivity
Central.Govt. has sanctioned the construction of a 6 lane Eastern Peripheral Expressway, to encircle the National Capital in conjunction with the KMP Expressway. The 135-km long access controlled expressway will pass through five districts Sonipat, Faridabad in Haryana and Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. Also the Wazirabad Bridge, over River Yamuna, is being replaced by the signature bridge under construction to ease out the traffic congestion enroute to Baghpat. Also the proposed 271km long, 8 lane expressway on the banks of River Hindon, connecting Noida to Saharanpur will save time and fuel both.

To reduce the pressure of traffic on Delhi roads and to develop a rapid rail transport system, a railway corridor is being developed all around Delhi. Further to this, the metro shall reach Delhi Extn. NCR Baghpat in two to three phases. It will connect Shastri Park metro station to Sonia Vihar, Tronica City, Panchlok, Mandola, Subhanpur, Sankroog and Khekra. This development has undoubtedly put Delhi Extn. NCR Baghpat on the fast track of progress.

    Enhancing Tourism
This Land of Tigers has great historical importance as it withholds in itself many historical remains dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization and the Mahabharata Era. This has been brought to light by the recent archeological diggings done in the Sinooli, Bamnooli and Ranchad villages of Baghpat. To preserve and display these archeological findings, a museum is being made in Lakshagriha.

In order to augment heritage tourism, the Central Govt. has set aside funds to build up the Mahabharat Circuit. For this purpose all the places belonging to the Mahabharta Era, like the Gandhari Talab, Lakshgriha, Brajghat, etc are being beautified and preserved.
